The Recovery Unplugged team would like to wish music lovers everywhere a happy National Record Store Day. We encourage all to support the local record shops in their community and throughout the country. As an organization that depends on music to enrich our patients’ recovery processes, and to improve their lives in general, we are beyond grateful that this phenomenon has grown to its current heights, and we look forward to it every year. We urge all to embrace this event and take an opportunity to listen to some of their favorite music whenever they have the time throughout the day.
South Florida addiction care leader Recovery Unplugged headed to Austin’s famed music and arts festival South by Southwest this year. The ten-day event continued its tradition of bringing together some of the most important and talented artists form around the world in an explosion of creativity, culture and arts-driven dialogue. The trip was an invaluable opportunity for the Recovery Unplugged crew to connect with world-class artists and musicians in an effort to spread our message of recovery and healing through music. One of the highlights of our excursion was our meeting with the Legendary Robert Plant to discuss the positive impact music and the creative process can have on addiction treatment.
Chief Strategy Officer Paul Pellinger of Recovery Unplugged Treatment Center, sat down with Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer to talk about the importance of recognizing the epidemic of addiction that is afflicting our country. The discussion was centered on the importance of music therapy in the mental health field and the positive effects it has in the recovery process. Over the past twenty years, the number of drug overdoses has skyrocketed and has only recently begun to be recognized by the public at large as something other than criminal behavior.
The Grammy award winning artist is a longtime friend of Recovery Unplugged Director of Creative Recovery, Richie Supa. Kramer told us how much he supports the program at Recovery Unplugged and how amazing it is for us to use music as a tool of recovery. Being a musician and living the rock star lifestyle in the 70s, he understands the impact music has on people on a deep and personal level by seeing it firsthand in his own life. It really is so amazing to have somebody as renowned and respected as Joey Kramer to voice their support for what we strive every day to do in the battle against drug addiction.
We are very excited to announce the approval of Recovery Unplugged by The Joint Commission of Accreditation (Jcaho)! The Joint Commission is "An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission accredits and certifies more than 20,500 health care organizations and programs in the United States. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards."
This accreditation means that the Recovery Unplugged is held to some of the highest standards as a health care provider, compared to any other drug rehab center in Florida, or the rest of the country.
